International Languages Week 2010

He taonga ngā reo katoa - All languages are to be treasured.

International Languages Week in Aotearoa New Zealand (15-21 August) celebrates multilingualism and the advantages and importance of learning a new language at any age or stage.

Developing language skills and enhancing cultural understanding is critical for our future, equipping New Zealanders to take on the world.

Celebrating teaching, learning and use of all languages, ILW is an opportunity for schools to highlight and value the diversity of languages spoken in their schools and the wider community. For ideas on how to engage positively with ILW, with a focus on the five key international languages taught in schools throughout New Zealand — Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish — http://www.international-languages-week.org.nz/
