My current research is into adolescent students’ word level literacy skills: spelling and vocabulary development. I work to help teachers to understand how to support their students to see patterns in words and to understand spelling conventions. A complementary aspect of this work is to explore the ways in which knowledge of prefixes, suffixes and root words can help students with vocabulary solving skills.
Another strand of my work has involved supporting Heads of Department and Literacy Leaders to become effective leaders of learning.
